WIAW and Almost Rest Day Hunger

It’s Wednesday! It’s Wednesday! That means it’s time for What I Ate Wednesday :)

I’ve had French toast for breakfast every day since I made it last week. I changed it slightly today by using a real egg and homemade applesauce instead of milk, and it was delicious!

Lunch was perfect and exactly what I was craving!

Pre-roasted kale and broccoli with ketchup hummus on top. God, it was delicious! I had an apple on the side with bread pudding hummus. Yes, you read that right. Bread pudding hummus. I made cookie dough hummus and added in chunks of s’more bread pudding. I made a double batch on Monday and it will be gone by tomorrow :)

My lunch was a little lacking in protein, so homemade yogurt and granola (x1000) was my afternoon snack.

Dinner was quinoa, tofu, yellow squash and curry sauce on spinach.

I had planned on taking a rest day today but decided to squeeze in a 3 mile run after dinner. When I got home, I devoured a chocolate chip blondie (oh my god these are good) with tofu chocolate mousse. Despite a light workout day, I was ravenous all day!

Do you feel hungrier than normal on rest days? I do, but I’m also running 13 miles tomorrow and will surely want to eat my kitchen :)

    I don’t know that I feel hungrier on rest days, specifically, but I will say that on the weekends I’m usually ravenous. Probably because I’m not eating on as much of a schedule as I do during the week.

  2. I’ve noticed i’m hungry 24-7 when i’m active! rest days and active days! I think its just your metab humming! keep feeding it! =)

  3. I had a tofu salad for dinner too!

    And on rest days I actually feel a lot hungrier too! It’s really weird– I try and tell my body to simmer down but it has a mind of its own sometimes ;)

    I would give pretty much anything for a bowl of strawberries like that! Lately I live in constant hunger regardless of rest or active days. I think it’s the change in my workouts and I will stabilize soon. Or I’ll become round and I won’t be able to stabilize because spheres can’t stay stable :-P

  5. The bread pudding hummus sounds good, but a little crazy :-)

    I’m usually quite hungry on rest days, but after a few rest days my appetitie goes down quite a lot. I think your body needs the energy for that 13 miles tomorrow!

  6. I tend to find my appetite is much bigger on my rest day, long runs tend to suppress my appetite so when I feel the hunger I feed it! You seriously have me craving hummus now ;-)

    I feel hungry pretty much every single day lately since I’ve been trying to work out more. I am hungry right now! hehe

  10. I actually do notice how much hungrier I am on rest days! I think it’s because working out suppresses my appetite for a certain amount of time right after I am done, so I probably don’t notice my hunger then

  12. You know, sometimes I do feel hungrier on rest days. And it always throws me off. Like why hungry now? Not doing anything….

    It’s a toss up-sometimes I’m hungry and other times barely hungry. I guess it just depends on if I’ve been eating enough on active days too.

  14. You aren’t kidding about being hungry – I ran 9 this morning and there is not enough food in the world to fill me up right now!

    Maybe I just need s’more bread pudding…

    I think it’s because your stomach has more energy to digest and metabolize? That’s my theory anyway. :-)

    I do sometimes! I never really thought about it, but yeah, sometimes I’m starved on rest days. How did I not remember you made cookie dough hummus and s’mores bread puddin’? I’m making dessert hummus this weekend, so maybe I’ll do cookie dough :)

    I’ve been pretty hungry EVERY day lately! Gahhh marathon training. But sometimes on rest days I do notice an increased hunger – it’s the body telling us something!

  20. I actually am sooo much more hungry on days I work out. When I don’t work my body feels a bit more sluggish and my appetite goes wayyyy down.

  21. I’m the opposite! I’m hungry on tough workout days. It felt like I ate all day long after my long interval run this morning!

  23. Yes hhaha! I always feel hungrier on rest days! I think maybe it has to do with the fact that our bodies are repairing on those days, so they need more fuel? Either that or there’s just more time to eat on rest days ;) .
