It’s time for What I Ate Wednesday!
I am addicted to Mary’s protein cakes lately. Such a good and filling breakfast!
I wasn’t really hungry when I got home from work and the gym, so my lunch was eaten in bits and pieces throughout the afternoon.
I made myself a smoothie and THIS happened. Note to self- tupperware does not do a good job as a blender lid.
This is the second time this has happened in the past week! You would think I would learn by now…
Do you want some apple with that peanut flour?
I am kind of addicted to broccoli and hummus recently. I think broccoli is my new favorite veggie!
Also addicted to grapes. All day every day!
Dinner was leftover cheezy millet. Have I mentioned how good this is yet? The best thing about leftovers is that they don’t explode all over my face and kitchen like smoothies do
The picture is leftover too
Dessert will be strawberries!
What was your last kitchen accident? I could go on for days about all the dumb stuff I’ve done and the messes they’ve created!

can i say the last kitchen accident was/is EVERY TIME MY BF enters that room! haha
haha, I’ve totally been there, done that with my blender. I love the heart shaped grape bowl
I have blender spillage ALL the TIME!! My kitchen looks just like your picture too often…What great fresh food today!
Woman, I am a mess in the kitchen. accidents and messes are the norm here! I need to try millet. I’ve never tried it before, but it sounds so good!
I try to forget my mishaps
I’ve done some really stupid things trust me. I love broccoli – really good with hummus but also love it roasted or grilled just plain.
We have definitely all suffered through that same indignity at the hands of the blender, lady! Usually my biggest issue is with trying to mix a dish in a bowl that’s too small and then having to move it. Like, why not just use the big bowl the first time, right?
you’re just not normal unless you blow up your blender a few times here and there =) right? <3
Hey, at least you attemped to use a lid! I’ve forgotten to put the lid on my blender numerous times. I think there is a permanent Green Monster stain on my cabinets…
This protein cake might become my next breakfast addition! I tend to eat the same thing over and over again until I get bored of it. After I managed to finally recreate your applesauce breakfast cookie, I was eating it for months every single morning. I might have found its successor…
I love the broccoli/hummus combo too!!
haha! That makes me feel better that I’m not the only one with ridiculous blender explosions. The juicer always results in cabinets dripping with some sort of veggie juice too. Being healthy is messy
Oh the food looks so good!! I especially like the looks of cheezy millet!
I love that heart-shaped container
My kitchen accidents usually involve smashing things, often my housemate’s stuff (ooops!)
haha, I tend to fill my blender too full and not put the lid on properly so it explodes! I think the last proper incident was when I burned some lentils on the stove, it did not taste good!
What a mess
I hadn’t lived here long when I decided to make some no knead bread and I took the hot pot out of the oven and my pot holder must have been damp because I burnt my finger. When my finger got burnt I dropped the pot on the stove which is ceramic. Want to know what happens when you drop a cast iron pot on a ceramic stove? It shatters into a bazillion pieces!
“Uhh, honey, can you come to the kitchen?”
“Yep”
“I had a little oops”
“I can’t believe you did that.. you realize we have to buy a brand new stove?”
no, I couldn’t tell that I thought we could glue it
I love my new cooktop and I’m really careful about the hot pot.
After i blended my ice cream, I scooped it into bowls and put it in the freezer for about 15 min. while I prepared other toppings. The freezer helped harden it up like ice cream!!
i love ur WIAW! bahahah ouch with the blender.. tht happened to me once but it went flying upwards!
I have been making so many smoothies lately I’m surprised I haven’t had something happen to me like what happened to you! I too have been scarfing down fresh fruit like it’s going out of season, I guess it will at some point but right now it’s amazing!
When you bake as much as I do, flour explosions happen on a daily basis!
I’m a huge fan of snacking on steamed broccoli (roasted would be more delicious, but takes way too much time when I’m hankering for a snack!) dipped in a spicy peanut sauce!
mm just got on the broccoli hummus train
The millet looks good, but I have yet to try the stuff. I’m all for leftovers though!
The same thing happened to me the other day! But it was because I made such a big smoothie that it started leaking out of the bottom and the top of the blender. It was my best smoothie yet though, so I’m glad I made it so big.
Broccoli + Hummus = Love. I tried Trader Joes Tomato Basil hummus yesterday, and it tastes like pizza. Definitely gotta pair that with the broc!
Oh no!! I’m so sad for you about your smoothie – I’ve totally been there before. I too have had millions of kitchen disasters. Can’t remember my most recent but I’m sure it was a doosey! Haha
At least the rest of your day looks like it was delicious!
I totally have made awesome blender messes too…oops!
aw, man – blender explosions are tragic.
the other day i spilled sesame seeds all over my kitchen floor. i may or may not have shed a tear at that mess.
My last kitchen accident? Oh geez… let me count them all! My reoccuring one happens to be setting off the fire alarm with smoke from the oven… all the time…
I have kitchen accidents all the time! I can’t decide which is worse… the time I dropped 3 eggs on the floor before at the same time or the time I dumped an entire container of hummus on the floor and inside the fridge… those were really fun to clean up lol
Yum! It all looks great and sounds like you had a good food wednesday to me! The blender explosion happens to me all the time:)
What a cute heart bowl!! <3
Lately I have been staying out of the kitchen! I don’t have too many accidents when cooking but baking is a whole different story. I am horrible at it!
I’m used to blender accidents like that.
My blender is constructed in a way that you can take off the bottom with the knife part, and by now I’ve understood that the spilling over happens when I start blending at a too high speed level. So, when I start low-level and then increase, everything’s fine.
I’ve also had a crazy appetite for broccoli recently.
