Have you entered my nut butter giveaway yet?! Homemade nut butter is up for grabs, people!
I share a car with my sister, which can be pretty tricky sometimes. It seems like we always need the car at the same time, so there’s a lot of dropping each other off and then having to wait around. Not fun!
Since I work so close to home (3 miles) and I’ve been working in the mornings, I decided I would vow to ride my bike to work every morning this month. Since my sister is in summer school at the same time I work, it works out well- I don’t have to wait around for her and waste gas!
I hopped on my bike yesterday morning and headed out- only to realize that my tires were low. Like, really low. Like, I had to get off my bike and push it two miles to work low. I was a hot sweaty mess by the time I rolled in to work and vowed never to ride again.
Thank god for dads that can fix anything- my bike is as good as new today!
I got to work in about a third of the time it took me to get there yesterday. Ah, nothing better than the feeling of nice full tires! I really want this to become a habit over the summer. I’ve worked out a nice little schedule. I’m out of the house by 8, work at 8:30, off at 11:30, working out at 11:31 (SO nice to work at a gym) and on my way home an hour later!
I love you, bike! You need a name. Squashmobile?
Confession- I used to never wear a helmet when I ride my bike! After reading Kelly’s story, though, I am hereby committing to wear one every time I ride. Sure, I look like a doofus, but it sure beats brain damage!
I hate wearing helmets because I have a freaky big head. This is my dad’s helmet and it fits me perfectly, if that gives you any clue as to how large my head is.
I really want to buy a cute helmet, but I don’t think they make any to fit my melon!

Or do they? I think I need this…
I bought this backpack a few weeks ago at Ross for 6 bucks! I normally use it as a gym bag, but it makes quite the handy backpack for running errands via bicycle
It fits five pounds of peanut flour too, just in case you stop at TJ’s and score the last few bags. Just saying.
Do you wear a helmet when you ride a bike? You should!

What a cute helmet!! I wish I had a bike, but no such luck
when I did have one I never wore a helmet though. The straps always bug me!!
Hahahhaa, omg, big heads. My four year old has a crazy big head. And it’s super cute because he’s really small/skinny. We call him a “lollipop”. I have a bike helmet, but I haven’t ridden a bike in about 8 years. My helmet looks like an alien head. So ugly.
I actually don’t have a bike anymore. After I outgrew mine, I never ended up buying another one. I don’t really live somewhere where biking is an option to go places because my house is at least a 30 minute bike ride to anywhere
I wish I could to save money on gas, but for now, I’ll have to stick with my little car!
That is such a cool helmet!! I love the title by the way, if you’re referring to that song. Thanks for the comment!
Currently my bike is at my parents house collecting dust. I would like to get one though so that I can bike to work. And I would most definitely wear a helmet if I did.
I want to ride my bike too! Too bad I don’t own one!
Maybe I should start from the beginning?
When I was at uni I rode a bike to get around everywhere … and I didn’t wear a helmet. A friend of mine got knocked off his bike and bounced off his head without any damage because he was wearing a good quality helmet – so I definitely would now.
I work about 3 miles away from my house too, but I take the bus because the roads are very busy and it’s pretty hilly too!
I have a bike locked in my garage. I really should use it more.
i love riding bikes!! I need to get some baskets for mine and then ill be good to go
Don’t hate me. I know I should but I don’t wear a helmet. I think it is the way I grew up. I lived in a small southern town and we just didn’t wear helmets or knee pads or anything.I love that you ride your bike so much! it is awesome
If I rode, I’d most definitely wear a helmet. I don’t trust drivers one bit and then I wouldn’t trust myself to not fall either
Yesss I always wear a helmet! I always wearing one when I’m skiing too – I think that’s a necessity as well.
I really wish I had a bike but I have no place to store one in my 1 bed apartment! I would most certainly wear a helmet though
I would wear one if I rode a bike. I’m a hazard to myself on one…. lol
I used to work at a gym! it really was the best
No excuses for missing workouts
Oh my goodness, I NEED that watermelon helmet. I would so wear it! I need a new bike first though!
Whitney
I don’t even know how to ride a bike. Sad lol!
I share a car with my mom, so we have those same problems! Especially since she has to take care of my siblings too. When I got my license we also bought a bike to share so that when one person has the car, the other can bike! I’m so bad about wearing a helmet. When I’m not wearing one I always think about kelly’s story and I get so scared!
If you rode your bike in Australia (you’d call it a push bike) you’d wear a helmet or get a big fine. It’s been a law here since before I moved from the states in 1996. I know they look goofy but if EVERYONE wears a helmet it seems normal. It’s like seatbelts I suppose.
I do have a helmet and I do wear it. I LOVE the watermelon helmet. lol
I definitely wear a helmet every. time.i.bike! Even if its a short distance! I’ve had too many friends get hit by cars (all have been okay, thank goodness!) I feel funny sometimes though when I ride to/from campus. I’m literally the ONLY person wearing a helmet around campus! haha
I have to admit I don’t wear one either. But I rarely use my bike. Bad excuse though.
You NEED the watermelon helmet!!
I always wear my super awesome helmet when I’m rollerblading or biking. Okay not always when I take my bike but if I’m going out on the roads I definitely wear it. I’m a clutz so it’s probably best
That watermelon helmet is pretty sweet!
Haha I never wear a helmet
Bahahaha! Dying!
I haven’t rode my bike for … 3 years? (It’s in a miserable condition, I don’t know if I get it repaired at all.) However, I didn’t usually wear a helmet when going by bike, but I’d totally wear that melon helmet!
Haha is it bad that I secretly don’t want people to enter your giveaway so I can win your amazing nut buttter
I haven’t ridden a bike in years. My brother decided to ruin every bike we own and now that I’m in NYC theres no place to store one!
Oh Kate, you should definitely wear a helmet! Love those cute ones.
I love riding my bike to the gym, but I wish I worked there too! That would be so nice. I can’t bike to work because I work in a pharmacy and it wouldn’t really fly to be all hot and sweaty and smelly (which I would be) when I arrived to work.
When I was in the 6th grade, I got hit by a car riding my bike to school. I was a block away from my house and the school was less than a mile away! Worse experience of my life. Just thinking about it…all the screaming and the pain… it was horrible. I wore my helmet and without it I would NOT be here today (or would have had serious trauma to the left side of my head and would be severely brain damaged). WEAR YOUR HELMET GUYS.
They DO make that watermelon helmet in adult sizes! I saw a lady wearing it at the Farmers Market Saturday and pointed it out to Marshall. Love it.
Aw man, the comments make me so sad- everyone needs to get their bike together/out of the garage/a new one lol! I am so glad I’m not in the Bay Area and commuting the 10miles/1 hour bike ride to school anymore. That was too stressful! I need to buy a helmet actually now that I’m riding in LA- I notice that cars are more aware and give me more space when I wear it vs when I don’t. MAJOR HIGH-FIVE to you for biking to work!
It makes me so happy when people talk about this because America is such a car-centric country (blech!). Btw, maybe you should get a U-lock? Chain locks are so easy to cut through and I’ve had a bike stolen that way.
