Have you ever thought something you were cooking or baking was going to fail before you even started?
Guilty! For some reason, I did not have high hopes for these graham crackers when I started making them. They seemed simple enough, but I wasn’t confident I could get the taste or texture down.
When I made my sister and mom try them and saw how much they loved them, I realized I had nothing to worry about. I wouldn’t call my mom a picky eater, but she likes what she likes- and she loved these!
Whole Wheat Honey Cinnamon Graham Crackers
(adapted from here)
Ingredients:
- 3 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/2 cup milk
- Cinnamon and sugar for dusting, optional (but highly recommended!)
Directions:
- Sift the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, and baking soda) and set aside.
- Cream the butter, sugar, and honey together until fluffy. Add about a third of the flour mixture and stir to combine. Add a little milk and stir to combine. Repeat, alternating the flour mixture and milk until everything is added.
- Cover well and pop in the fridge overnight.
- When you’re ready to make the crackers, take the dough out of the fridge, uncover it, and let sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- When it’s a bit softer and ready to be worked with, flour your workspace and divide the dough into halves.
- Roll out the dough with a rolling pin into a rectangle (or as close as you can get it!)
- To cut the graham crackers into squares, I just used a thin knife. I’m sure you could use a pastry cutter or even cookie cutters. To make the cutting easier, dip the knife into a little flour before you cut.
- Use a fork to prick the top of each cracker. Combine the cinnamon and sugar (if using) and sprinkle on the top of each cracker.
(I don’t know why, but that picture makes me laugh!)
- Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 11-13 minutes.
Look how cute they are!
The possibilities of these are endless. I’m picturing them crumbled onto yogurt or oats, dipped into ice cream, made into s’mores, or my favorite combination when I was a kid- spread with cream cheese!
Have you ever thought something you were cooking or baking was going to be a disaster and then ended up being amazing?

They’re adorable! I’ve never thought to make graham crackers, but they were one of my favorite foods as a child. They would be perfect for mini PB & banana sandwiches.
That sounds SO good!
This is so perfect!! I’m totally making these asap. Thx girl
I’m in love with make it yourself Mondays – these looks great! I used to love graham crackers topped with vanilla frosting growing up! Hello, sugar high!!
Those look amazing!! I always think my baking will be a disaster…It usually is
these look delicious! which certainly means something coming from me because I really don’t like graham crackers..
Thank you!! Graham crackers don’t exist in Australia, so I’d have to make them myself to eat them!
Happens to me all the time! At least it’s not the other way around lol, although that does happen occasionally.
That happens to me all the time, I usually throw things together thinking um I’m not sure if this is going to work but then the flavours really come together, and if they don’t then a chuck a load of soy sauce over it and eat it anyway (obviously only for savory stuff, for sweet its agave!)
I’m loving your make it yourself Monday posts! I say go for a s’mores
looks like such a fun project! i’m super impressed that you made these yourself.
I’ve never tried to make my own crackers before- these look great. I usually just throw things together and hope for the best if I’m honest. It’s such a great cooking technique!
Amazing! Some graham crackers have so many ingredients in them, homemade is the best way to go.

Graham crackers from scratch?! Now that is good!!!
I’m bookmarking this and am going to make these for my son. He’ll love them!!!
Um, those look so good! I don’t even like, love graham crackers or anything &now I really want some!
These are so cute! And seem simple enough. I completely know what you mean about thinking something won’t turn out right and then realizing later I had nothing to worry about. Risotto is definitely the latest example of that. Easy peasy, but was so scary originally!
Love your crackers! When I make these for my son he cries when they are gone- he loves them that much. I like to use whole wheat for kids but love adding extra spices and flavors for the grown-ups. They look wonderful
Yum – I’ve never made my own graham crackers, but now I’ve definitely got this recipe bookmarked!
I made some vegan cookies and I was worried they would come out to crispy but the ended up really dense and moist. They were delicious!
These look so good. Bookmarked!
Ooh they are cute, and we don’t get them in the UK either, so this is an especially good one for us Brits!
They look fantastic! When I finally get round to doing some baking I’m going to attempt these
These look so delicious! I love making homemade options of certain foods/snacks so that I can know exactly what is going into them! Thank you for a great recipe!
These look great! I used to love shortbread cookies, but in my wheat-free days now, I didn’t have them anymore. Your crackers could be nice with brown rice flour as well, though.
Does the “Graham” refer to the whole wheat? I only know Graham bread (which is whole wheat bread, as you certainly know).
Hmmmmm, I don’t remember that I made anything that I supposed to be a disaster and ended up great. Usually it ended up as a disaster.
When I first started cooking that is how I felt about literally every single meal. An some stuff I made was a total bust! (Baking a steak — who does that>?!>) Love the idea of fresh, warm homemade graham crackers though, and those look yummmmy!
I love graham crackers! The prefect oatmeal topper
WOW what an awesome idea. I never even thought of making these little pieces of heaven on my own!
You have no idea how much I LOVE Graham crackers. Like, it’s kind of crazy how much I love them. I want to try this!!
Whole wheat graham crackers? WANT.
They are so cute! I will have to give them a try
yummmmy! I have cooked/baked multiple things that I thought were going to completely fail and they’ve come out great
Seriously?! The fork divots you made almost killed me dead, lady! How fabulous – and what a great food to try making! Graham Crackers are such a nice snack-y food and you can use them in so many recipes as well! Next week, maybe a dip for the crackers? I feel a theme coming on
Yum, the idea of graham crackers with cream cheese makes my mouth water. That sounds unique and yet delightful!
